DSL Yankees (29-19) (Won a big game over the DSL Cardinals, 2-0. The Cardinals fall to 24-23 as a bunch of teams race to make it into the 16-team field)
CF Isaias Castillo: 1-for-3, HR (14), RBI, R, K
Castillo is your likely DSL home run champion, unless Leanders Matos (10 home runs) gets hot for a week. Castillo is hitting .302/.421/.643 in 221 PA. He has also stolen 24 bases in 26 attempts. By the way, going back to 2009, the highest home run total I can find in the DSL is 16, by Jose Castro (MIA) in 2025. Castro hasn’t played at all in 2026 due to injury.
SS Stiven Marinez: 1-for-3, 2B (7), 2 K
Marinez has a 5-game hitting streak.
2B Juan Torres: 0-for-3
This ends his 5-game hitting streak (multiple hits in all the games)

Solid effort by the 6’6″ 18-year-old. As is the case with many big pitchers, control has been an issue (29 walks in 25.1 innings).
LHP Fredy Penuelas (W, 7-0): 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
1.72 ERA (47 IP, 31 H, 13 R, 9 ER, 18 BB, 53 K). The 19-year-old has been one of the most consistent DSL pitchers this season.
DSL Bombers (21-27-1) (Destroyed the DSL Rangers Red, 17-6)
CF Ruben Castillo: 2-for-4, HR (3), 3 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB (8), BB, K
2B Dariel Santana: 1-for-5, HR (1), 2 RBI, R, 2 K
Santana’s first professional home run. This is the switch-hitting 18-year-old’s debut campaign.
C Alessandro Rodriguez: 2-for-5, R, BB, 2 K

Melendez won’t turn 17 until August 31st. He is hitting .200/.359/.225 in 103 PA.
