LF Kenedy Corona1-for-3, HR (3), RBI, R, 2 K

LHP Kyle Carr (L, 0-1): 4 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 HR
Carr’s second Triple-A start wasn’t quite as successful as the first one (5.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER). As stated previously, Carr tends to struggle upon reaching a new level but adjusts well.
RHP Yerry de los Santos1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
RHP Eric Reyzelman1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
Back-to-back strong efforts (2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 6 K) after a series of rough ones at this level.

Game 2 (Lost, 3-1)

DH J.C. Escarra0-for-4, K
CF Spencer Jones0-for-2, 2 BB
2B Oswaldo Cabrera0-for-3, 2 K
RF Yanquiel Fernandez1-for-3
3B Tyler Hardman2-for-2, BB
Hardman has a 5-game hitting streak (11-for-19; 1 double, 4 HR, 9 RBI). Some 5-game hitting streaks feel different than others.
1B Ernesto Martinez Jr.0-for-3, R, K
SS Jonathan Ornelas1-for-3
.296/.358/.468 in 275 PA. He has time at 2B/SS/3B/LF this season (also has some CF experience in his career).
LF Cole Gabrielson0-for-3
C Abrahan Gutierrez1-for-2
  PH Marco Luciano0-for-1

RHP Adam Kloffenstein: (L, 2-6)  4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, HR
LHP Will Brian0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 0 K
RHP Kervin Castro1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
2.13 ERA (25.1 IP, 16 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 HR, 6 BB, 24 K). He’s going to be one of the most forgotten players when you attempt the “Who played for the 2026 Yankees?” quiz at the end of the season.

Somerset (44-42) (Lost to Reading, 5-2)

LF Jackson Castillo1-for-4, R, K
His July struggles continue (6-for-38). He’s not striking out much during this stretch (five).
CF Jace Avina1-for-3, 3B (2), RBI, R, BB
.270/.359/.537 in 309 PA (17 doubles, 2 triples, 17 HR, 48 RBI, 56 R, 7-for-8 SB, 11.0% BB, 27.8% K). He has a modest 5-game hitting streak (5-for-20; .250).
RF DJ Gladney0-for-4, 3 K
3B Coby Morales1-for-4, RBI, 2 K
.270/.350/.490 in 337 PA. His 62 RBI ties him for first in the Eastern League with Andrew Jenkins (DET).
2B Connor McGinnis0-for-4, 2 K
DH Miguel Palma1-for-4, 2 K
1B Josh Moylan1-for-4, 2 K
C Manuel Palencia0-for-4, K
SS Owen Cobb0-for-2, BB

RHP Cade Smith: (L, 5-6) 4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, HR
4.99 ERA (74 IP, 80 H, 42 R, 41 ER, 17 HR, 32 BB, 72 K).  His HR/9 is an insane 2.07. Lefties are hitting .310 with nine home runs while righties are hitting .252 with eight home runs.
RHP Kelly Austin1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR
RHP Matt Keating1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Keating is another Somerset reliever (along with Ben Grable and Hayden Merda) with a strong strikeout rate (33.3% over 24 innings)
LHP Geoffrey Gilbert1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR

Hudson Valley (41-43) (Defeated Rome, 7-1)

3B Roderick Arias1-for-4, 2B (14), 2 R, 2 SB (23), BB, 3 K
Arias is hitting .264/.344/.437 in 326 PA (14 doubles, 1 triple, 11 HR, 52 RBI, 44 R, 23-for-31 SB, 8.9% BB, 29.8% K). Something to remember about Arias, who has been in the system forever:  He is only 21 years old, and this is his first year at this level. We talk up Wilson Rodriguez for being only 21 and hitting well here, but Arias has been around longer and came in with much more fanfare. He is still crushing it as a right-handed hitter, a weakness entering this year.
SS Core Jackson1-for-3, R, SB (27), BB, 2 K
Jackson is 9-for-10 stealing bases in his last 11 games.  He has a 19-game on-base streak.
DH Eric Genther1-for-3, HR (9), SF, 2 RBI, R, K
Genther is 9-for-24 (.375) in July.  Genther played the outfield during his (brief) professional debut last season. This year, he has only played catcher and designated hitter. It doesn’t hurt to try to develop additional catching depth.
1B Kyle West1-for-4, K
LF Wilson Rodriguez1-for-2, 2B (14), R, SB (20), 2 BB
Speaking of Rodriguez, he is hitting .263/.383/.434 in 349 PA. Entering tonight, Rodriguez owned a 9.6% swinging strike, which is barely above the “great” range (7-9%). I love this kid’s profile, while recognizing he needs to prove it in the upper minors.
2B Enmanuel Tejeda1-for-3, SF, RBI, CS (5), K
C Josue Gonzalez1-for-2, 2B (9), SF, RBI, R, BB
CF Camden Troyer1-for-4, RBI, R, 2 K
RF Luis Durango1-for-4, 2B (4), RBI, 2 K

RHP Rory Fox (W, 6-2): 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K
4.72 ERA (76.1 IP, 79 H, 52 R, 40 ER, 11 HR, 23 BB, 83 K). This is a new personal best for strikeouts in a game for Fox, who has done a solid job in his debut campaign. Last five starts: 2.97 ERA (30.1 IP, 27 H, 11 R, 10 ER, 6 BB, 34 K)
RHP Thomas Balboni Jr.: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
RHP Wilmy Sanchez1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Sanchez has struck out ten hitters in 4.2 innings in July. It might be time to try him in Somerset again.
RHP Kevin Stevens1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K

Tampa (49-37) (Swept a doubleheader against Clearwater)

Game 1 (Won, 8-6)

SS Jackson Lovich1-for-3, R, SB (21), CS (6), BB
2B Hans Montero1-for-2, HR (9), 2 RBI, 2 R, 3 SB (24), 2 BB
C Luis Puello1-for-3, 2B (10), RBI, 2 R, BB
Puello is hitting .259/.328/.488 in 184 PA since his promotion.
3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek0-for-2, 2 R, 2 BB
DH David McCann2-for-3, HR (4), 4 RBI, R, BB
LF Brando Mayea1-for-4
RF Willy Montero1-for-4, K
1B Christofer Reyes1-for-3, K
CF Isael Arias0-for-3, SB (7), K

RHP Sabier Marte1.2 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, HR
Not the Tampa debut he envisioned. We get a look at some Savant data, and he was topping out in the mid-90s and featured a 5-pitch mix that was sinker (43%) and slider (36%) heavy. If he is here permanently, we’ll see if he learns from this.
LHP Parker Seay (W, 4-0): 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
RHP Brian Hendry1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
RHP Austin Breedlove (S, 1): 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Breedlove’s Tampa debut. He throws in the lower 90s with a slider and a change-up also in his arsenal.

Game 2 (Won, 5-3)

3B Jackson Lovich3-for-4, 2B (16), HR (16), RBI, 2 R
I have discussed the negatives, but we shouldn’t forget the positives. He is on his way to a 20-20-20 campaign and is hitting .289 with an .894 OPS. Additionally, he has nine 3+ hit efforts.
2B Hans Montero2-for-3, R, SB (25)
Montero today:  3-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, 4 SB, 2 BB. He now has a .789 OPS (started the day at .760). His 25 stolen bases ties his personal best, set last season.
SS Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek0-for-1, SF, RBI, R, BB
1B David McCann1-for-2, 2B (5), 2 RBI, R, K
A strong day for McCann (3-for-5, 2B, HR, 6 RBI, 2 R)
RF Brando Mayea0-for-2, BB
DH Engelth Urena0-for-3, 2 K
LF Gabriel Lara1-for-2, 2B (4), BB, K
C Ediel Rivera1-for-3, RBI, K
CF Isael Arias1-for-2, 2B (1), SB (8), BB
Arias loves to run. He is 8-for-9 stealing bases in 11 games since his promotion.

RHP Ty Boudreau: (W, 5-2) 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, HR
3.16 ERA (74 IP, 49 H, 31 R, 26 ER, 6 HR, 29 BB, 85 K). Last three starts: 18 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 HR, 7 BB, 13 K.
RHP Greysen Carter1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Carter is a bigger thrill than your favorite roller coaster.

FCL Yankees (26-25) (Squeaked past the Phillies, 3-2. This was a 7-inning contest.)

3B Richard Matic0-for-2, BB
On May 9th, Matic was hitting .296. That was the last time he was under .300 until today (.297).
LF Wilberson De Pena1-for-3, R
His numbers are so silly that they don’t even matter much anymore. Next challenge is needed.
C Queni Pineda1-for-3, 2B (7), RBI, SB (12), K
SS Leni Done0-for-3
CF Jose Castro0-for-3, 2 K
DH Francisco Vilorio0-for-2, K
2B Dexters Peralta1-for-2, R, K
RF Estivenzon Montero1-for-2, HR (2), 2 RBI, R
Montero isn’t a likely hero on this squad, given his .212/.301/.314 triple slash. Baseball!
1B Justin Capellan0-for-2

RHP Edinzo Marquez3.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
RHP Alexander Almonte2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
6.33 ERA (21.1 IP, 23 H, 15 R, 15 ER, 1 HR, 18 BB, 14 K).  His season hasn’t gone well, but he has pitched better lately.
RHP Jorge Luna (S, 1): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Luna’s first career save.

DSL Yankees (18-10) (Defeated the DSL Phillies, 8-6)

CF Isaias Castillo0-for-4, R, 3 K
SS Stiven Marinez2-for-4, RBI, 3 R, 2 SB (24), BB, K
Marinez has six stolen bases in his last two games and is 11-for-13 in seven July games.  He is hitting .303/.433/.550.
RF Yostin Pena0-for-5, RBI
2B Juan Torres2-for-5, R, K
Torres is nuts. He has 45 hits in 27 games and has five straight multi-hit efforts (18 overall).
C Juan Martinez2-for-3, 2B (7), 2 RBI, R, 2 SB (13), 2 BB
Martinez is hitting .403 in 20 games. If this offense is still clicking come tournament time, watch out. Yes, I am convinced they will make the 16-team postseason.
LF Eliezer Adames2-for-4, R, K

RHP Yunior Jerez (W, 5-0): 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K
2.45 ERA (25.2 IP, 13 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 0 HR, 10 BB, 26 K). He’s already 20, but this is his debut season.
RHP Emanuel Vargas (S, 1): 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

DSL Bombers (13-17) (Lost to DSL Colorado, 11-5)

2B Dariel Santana1-for-5, 3B (2), SB (15), 2 K
SS Mani Cedeno0-for-2, 2 R, 2 SB (9), 2 BB, 2 K
While Cedeno is younger, Marinez is easily outshining him. It hasn’t been a complete loss for Cedeno, who has raised his OPS 85 points from his debut campaign.
C Alessandro Rodriguez1-for-3, SF, RBI, K
DH Carlos Bello1-for-2, R, 2 BB
RF Sebastian Pinto1-for-4, HR (2), 2 RBI, R
Pinto is having a nice debut campaign, hitting .302/.443/.547 with seven doubles and two home runs in 21 games.

RHP Brandy Luis3 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Luis (18) is in his debut season.
