Notes:
One day after being taken off the Development List, Edinson Duran was placed on it. His transactions page is 95% Development List content.
LHP Kyle Carr has been promoted to Scranton. Carr was dominant for High-A Hudson Valley last season but struggled upon being promoted to Somerset. Those struggles continued into April of this year, but he figured things out. Between May and June, he pitched to a 2.66 ERA over 50.2 innings with a 29.9% K and 7.5% BB. He is a legitimate prospect, though Fangraphs is more bullish on him as a reliever than a starter. I am intrigued to see his Savant data.
Just in case the Yankees forgot, RHP Camilo Doval has minor league options. If you let me talk to 100 “baseball people,” 98 of them would be mesmerized by his stuff. However, there is a major disconnect between his stuff and his results. Matt Blake can’t figure it out. Maybe some time in the minors will help. The Yankees were hoping for a Doval/Fernando Cruz/David Bednar end game, but you can’t keep throwing him out there. They are lucky Brent Headrick has stepped up.
I’ve said it many times: The cavalry isn’t coming because the minor league system lacks horses. It’s a reality that some wish not to accept. When you pin your hopes on one position player (George Lombard Jr.), and he tears 215,000 ligaments in his fingers, what does that leave you with, exactly? I have some optimism about prospects in the lower minors, but they are the riskiest youngsters. Note that I am talking about the bullpen and position players.
Scranton (43-41)
Their game was postponed due to rain, delaying Kyle Carr‘s Triple-A debut. They were going to try to play a 7-inning game, but it never got started.
Somerset (42-38) (Lost to Hartford, 6-1. A thriller, this was not.)
RF Jackson Castillo: 0-for-4
Castillo is hitting .278/.360/.432 in 275 PA.
DH Jace Avina: 1-for-3, BB
Avina is hitting .275/.362/.547 in 282 PA. He is 2-for-16 in his last five games.
CF DJ Gladney: 1-for-4, K
Gladney has a 5-game hitting streak.
3B Coby Morales: 0-for-4, 2 K
1B Nicholas Torres: 1-for-4, R
Torres has zero extra-base hits in his last 19 games.
LF Josh Moylan: 0-for-4, 2 K
C Manuel Palencia: 1-for-3, BB
SS Kevin Verde: 0-for-3, SF, RBI
2B Connor McGinnis: 3-for-3
McGinnis compiles his first career 3-hit game.
RHP Ben Hess: (L, 1-1) 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HR
4.75 ERA (30.1 IP, 29 H, 21 R, 16 ER, 6 HR, 21 BB, 37 K). His 2025 debut campaign was so encouraging that it is hard to stay patient post-injury. He tossed 68 pitches tonight, 45 of which were strikes.
RHP Kelly Austin: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
RHP Michael Arias: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR
RHP Hayden Merda: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K
3.99 ERA (29.1 IP, 22 H, 14 R, 11 ER, 3 HR, 12 BB, 48 K). Merda has an impressive 39% strikeout rate.
Hudson Valley (36-42) (Defeated Wilmington, 5-4)
2B Kaeden Kent: 2-for-3, 2B (20), RBI, 2 R, CS (4), BB
Kent has 31 multi-hit efforts in 75 games. Last year in MLB, the leaders had 53 multi-hit games (Yandy Díaz, Julio Rodríguez). In case you were wondering, batting champion Aaron Judge had 51 multi-hit efforts in 152 games. I am not trying to compare a High-A player to an MLB player. I am providing context on how often hitters compile multi-hit games. Back to Kent: He is the second Yankees’ minor leaguer to reach 20 doubles this season, joining George Lombard Jr.
SS Core Jackson: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, SB (23), K
LF Wilson Rodriguez: 1-for-4, SB (18), K
Rodriguez was 8-for-8 stealing bases in June, but 0-for-2 in July entering tonight. Baseball!
DH Eric Genther: 1-for-3, RBI, HBP, K
1B Kyle West: 0-for-4, K
3B Roderick Arias: 0-for-4, 4 K
Hopefully, this doesn’t hurt his momentum…
RF Enmanuel Tejeda: 0-for-3, K
C Josue Gonzalez: 0-for-2, R, BB, K
CF Camden Troyer: 1-for-2, 2 R, SB (8), BB, K
LHP Franyer Herrera: 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, HR
Herrera tossed a 7-inning shutout last time out. He has a 4.18 ERA over 60.1 innings (55 H, 34 R, 28 ER, 12 HR, 31 BB, 70 K)
RHP Bryce Warrecker: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
2.77 ERA (13 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 HR, 4 BB, 16 K). Warrecker started the season on the injured list. He has pitched very well at this level over the last two seasons and likely would be in Somerset if not for said injury.
RHP Andrew Landry: (W, 1-2) 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
RHP Wilmy Sanchez: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
Sanchez has 28 strikeouts in 19 innings for Hudson Valley.
LHP Tanner Bauman (S, 2): 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Tampa (46-34) (Defeated St. Lucie, 10-3. They scored nine runs in the final two innings to clinch their eighth straight win.)
SS Jackson Lovich: 1-for-5, RBI, K
Lovich has a 5-game hitting streak.
2B Hans Montero: 0-for-3, RBI, R, CS (3), 2 BB, K
C Luis Puello: 0-for-5, R, 3 K
3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek: 1-for-5, 2B (13), 2 R, K
He slumped towards the end of June and is 2-for-16 to start July.
CF Brando Mayea: 0-for-3, 2 R, 2 BB
DH David McCann: 3-for-4, 2 HR (3), 7 RBI, 2 R, BB
In case you were starting to wonder where all the offense came from. McCann hit 3-run home runs in the 8th and 9th. He is hitting .321/.426/.571 in 19 games at this level.
1B Christofer Reyes: 2-for-5, R, SB (1), K
The 18-year-old is 3-for-9 since his promotion. If he finds a way to hold his own in a full-season league, that would be impressive.
LF Gabriel Lara: 1-for-4, 2B (3), SB (4), CS (1), BB, K
RF Isael Arias: 2-for-4, R, 2 SB (3), CS (1), BB, K
RHP Ty Boudreau: 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, HR
3.31 ERA (68 IP, 47 H, 30 R, 25 ER, 5 HR, 27 BB, 81 K). He has pitched at least six innings in four of his last five starts
RHP Jose Rodriguez (W, 3-0): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
2.51 ERA (32.1 IP, 17 H, 12 R, 9 ER, 2 HR, 21 BB, 45 K)
LHP Pedro Rodriguez: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
FCL Yankees (23-23) (Defeated the Phillies, 9-4. The Yankees went 11-for-13 stealing bases. The FCL season ends on July 23rd. They are seven behind the Blue Jays for the division and five behind the Orioles for the league’s lone Wild Card.)
3B Richard Matic: 1-for-4, R, 2 SB (12), BB, 3 K
No matter the level, a youngster will always struggle. That said, Matic has reached base safely in 44 of his 46 games.
CF Wilberson De Pena: 3-for-5, 2B (15), 3B (2), HR (13), 3 RBI, 2 R, K
How often do we say “He was a single short of the cycle”? He is hitting .346/.404/.670 in 198 PA (15 doubles, 2 triples, 13 HR, 53 RBI, 35 R, 18-for-23 SB). He’s playing in a short-season rookie league, and his 53 RBI rank him fifth in the organization (Garrett Martin leads with 64).
C Queni Pineda: 1-for-4, R, SB (10), CS (2), K
2B Leni Done: 2-for-4, 2B (9), R, 2 SB (27), HBP, K
.305/.414/.476 in 198 PA. Done’s numbers are in line (slightly better) with his 2025 numbers in the DSL.
DH Jose Castro: 0-for-3, R, 3 SB (25), 2 BB, K
Castro is 25-for-32 stealing bases in 30 games. Having a .492 OBP allows you to run free.
RF Francisco Vilorio: 0-for-4, R, SB (4), BB, 4 K
The bonus baby continues his struggles (.156/.257/.266
SS Dexters Peralta: 0-for-3, R, HBP, BB, K
LF Estivenzon Montero: 0-for-4, 2 K
1B Justin Capellan: 3-for-3, 2 2B (8), 2 RBI, R, 2 SB (5), CS (5), BB
RHP Jerson Alejandro: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
The 6’6″ 20-year-old continues his comeback from injury. He didn’t pitch in 2025 and has tossed only 6.2 innings this season.
RHP Enixon Sanchez (W, 2-2): 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 3 K
RHP Stanly Alcantara: 1.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
RHP Alexander Almonte: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
An interesting prospect entering the season, Almonte has struggled. He owns a 7.11 ERA in ten innings with an ugly 13/17 K/BB.
RHP Austin Breedlove: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
DSL Yankees (15-9) (Outscored DSL Colorado (16-9), 12-9. A bunch of hitters in today’s lineup have an OPS north of 1.000)
CF Isaias Castillo: 1-for-4, 2 R, SB (9), HBP, 3 K
Castillo has a 1.168 OPS.
SS Stiven Marinez: 2-for-4, RBI, 2 R, 2 SB (17), CS (2), BB
Marinez has a 1.037 OPS.

2B Juan Torres: 2-for-5, 2B (13), 3B (2), 2 RBI, 2 R, SB (10)
Torres has 14 multi-hit efforts in 23 games. Ridiculous. He is hitting .364/.425/.687 (1.112 OPS) with 33 RBI (second in the league to Pena), 25 runs, and a 10-for-13 SB rate.
C Juan Martinez: 1-for-2, RBI, 2 SB (9), 2 BB
24-for-58 (.414 (1.017 OPS); 6 doubles, 11 RBI, 9-for-10 SB, 9 BB, 4 K). A nice start to his career.

LHP Luis Rodriguez (S, 2): 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
DSL Bombers (11-14) (Split two games against the DSL Mets Blue)
Game 1 (Won, 10-2)
This game was the conclusion of a game started on June 25th. I am not going to bother anyone with the boxscore.
Game 2 (Lost, 12-11. This game was a doozy. They scored nine runs in the top of the 6th to take an 11-3 lead. In the bottom of the 7th (last inning of the game), the Mets returned the favor with nine runs of their own to win the game.)
2B Dariel Santana: 0-for-2, 2 RBI, R, HBP, 2 BB, K
SS Germayhoni Beltre: 1-for-4, RBI, R, BB, K
3B Carlos Bello: 0-for-4, RBI, R, HBP, K
DH David Carrera: 2-for-4, 2B (5), RBI, 2 R, CS (4), K
CF Alfiery Matos: 1-for-3, HR (2), 3 RBI, 3 R, SB (17), BB
After a rough 26-game debut season last year (zero extra-base hits), Matos is playing better this year. He is at .246/.411/.391 with a 17-for-18 stolen base rate.
C Stalen Ramirez: 1-for-2, R, SB (4), HBP, BB
The 17-year-old’s first career start behind the dish. He is 12-for-40 (.300) with three doubles and a home run.
RHP Sebastian Castillo : 3.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
LHP Andre Avila : 2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
