Top 30 Prospects

Injury Log

Notes:

I wish I had good news, but I am glad I don’t have any bad news.

Scranton (32-32) (Tied, 0-0, in the 4th inning against Lehigh Valley. This game was suspended due to thunderstorms)

SS George Lombard Jr.0-for-2, K
RF Yanquiel Fernandez1-for-2
2B Marco Luciano0-for-2, K
3B Oswaldo Cabrera0-for-0, BB
DH Seth Brown0-for-1, K
LF Ernesto Martinez Jr.0-for-1
1B Tyler Hardman0-for-0, BB
CF Duke Ellis0-for-1
C Abrahan Gutierrez0-for-1, K

RHP Brendan Beck3.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K
Not quite as sharp as his hitless seven innings his last time out, but he was putting zeroes on the board. While not official yet, this will drop his ERA to 3.38 (69.1 IP, 51 H, 31 R, 26 ER, 8 HR, 24 BB, 72 K).  He is second to Carlos Lagrange for the organizational lead in strikeouts (Lagrange has 73).

Somerset (33-27) (Defeated Binghamton, 3-1)

LF Jackson Castillo0-for-4
RF Garrett Martin0-for-3, HBP
Martin is hitting .248/.317/.534 in 259 PA. His slow start to June continues (6-for-36).
1B Nicholas Torres0-for-4, 2 K
DH DJ Gladney: 1-for-3, R, 2 K
Gladney has hit safely in ten of his last 11 games. Before this run, he was hitting .287.  He is now hitting… .287.
3B Coby Morales: 2-for-3, HR (11), RBI, 2 R
Morales homered off of rehabbing Mets’ pitcher Kodai Senga.  His power and production have surged this season. I have no idea if he is an MLB-quality third baseman, but if he is, his value goes up (Captain Obvious).
C Manuel Palencia0-for-1, SF, RBI, BB
2B Connor McGinnis: 1-for-3, RBI, SB (3), K
SS Owen Cobb0-for-3
CF Cole Gabrielson0-for-3, K

RHP Alexander Cornielle4.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, HR
His rehab is over. The Yankees decided to assign him here instead of Triple-A (for now).
RHP Michael Arias0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
LHP Xavier Rivas (W, 3-3): 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
6.13 ERA (39.2 IP, 35 H, 29 R, 27 ER, 11 HR, 23 BB, 60 K). He’s mixed some good performances with some bad, missing a lot of bats along the way.  The 11 home runs are alarming, but five of them were hit in one game.

Hudson Valley (27-32) (Lost to Jersey Shore, 8-7)

SS Kaeden Kent: 2-for-5, 2B (16), RBI, R, K
Kent has 22 multi-hit games this season (57 games played). He is tied with Lombard Jr. for the organizational lead in doubles.
3B Roderick Arias1-for-4, 2 R, SB (16), HBP, K
DH Kyle West2-for-4, RBI, R, BB, K
LF Wilson Rodriguez: 4-for-5, 3B (3), HR (4; grand slam), 4 RBI, 2 R, K
Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with four stolen bases last night and has three 3+-hit efforts this month.  According to the YES broadcast, he hit the grand slam at 102 MPH. We don’t get official Savant data from High-A ballparks. His OPS is up to .765 (.627 after games of 5/5).   “Are you starting to feel like an idiot for not ranking him in your Top 30, Tom?”  Shut up.
2B Enmanuel Tejeda: 1-for-3, RBI, SB (5), 2 BB, K
Tejeda is one of those prospects people gravitate towards as they make their way up the chain. He is pesky, can play anywhere, steals bases, etc.
C Josue Gonzalez0-for-5, 2 K
1B Josh Moylan0-for-4, 4 K
CF Camden Troyer0-for-2, R, 2 BB
RF Luis Durango: 2-for-4, CS (1)

LHP Allen Facundo5 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 6 BB, 4 K
Not quite the big performance he had last time out, but it’s nice to see a youngster battle through five innings when he doesn’t have his best stuff.  He owns a 4.46 ERA in 36.1 innings since his promotion (20 H, 20 R, 18 ER, 2 HR, 27 BB, 51 K).  Remember that many evaluators see him as a hard-throwing relief pitcher down the road.
RHP Jack Sokol: (L, 0-2) 1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Sokol entered tonight with a 1.45 ERA. It is now 3.20 (19.2 IP, 19 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 1 HR, 7 BB, 22 K)
RHP Luis Velasquez1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
This is his third stop on his rehab tour.  It shouldn’t be long before he is activated and placed in Somerset.
RHP Bryce Warrecker1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
RHP Brady Kirtner: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Tampa (32-28) (Split two games against Brandenton.)

Game 1 (Lost, 3-1. Since this was the conclusion of last night’s game, it went the full nine innings.)

3B Jackson Lovich0-for-4, BB, K
SS Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek1-for-4, K
He increases his on-base streak to 23.
LF Logan Maxwell0-for-4, 2 K
C Luis Puello1-for-4
CF Willy Montero1-for-2, 2B (10), R, 2 BB, K
DH Engelth Urena1-for-4, RBI, K
RF JoJo Jackson0-for-3, BB, K
1B David McCann0-for-0, BB
  PH-1B Austin Green1-for-3
They pulled McCann from the game because he was catching Game 2.
2B Luis Escudero0-for-3, BB, K

RHP Thatcher Hurd: (L, 0-2)  3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
RHP Wyatt Parliament5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
Solid performance by Parliament, who averaged 93.8 MPH with his 4-seam fastball (7 whiffs on 25 swings).

Game 2 (Won, 7-1)

SS Jackson Lovich: 2-for-4, 4 RBI, SB (14)
Lovich is hitting .291 with a .921 OPS (10 doubles, 2 triples, 11 HR, 38 RBI, 35 R, 14-for-17 SB, 10.3% BB, 27.5% K).  This was his second 4-RBI effort this season.
3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek0-for-4, 2 K
His 23-game on-base streak is snapped.
LF Luis Puello1-for-4, 2B (4), RBI
The 20-year-old catcher/outfielder is hitting .270/.328/.478 in 125 PA (.264/.323/.451 since his promotion to Tampa).
CF Willy Montero0-for-4, 2 K
RF JoJo Jackson2-for-3, R, CS (5), K
DH Engelth Urena0-for-2, R, HBP, K
.208/.368/.345 in 212 PA. Urena is 7-for-25 (.280/.379/.520; 2 HR, 9 RBI) in June.
C David McCann0-for-2, R, BB, K
1B Austin Green1-for-2, 2 R, BB, K
2B Luis Escudero1-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB

RHP J.T. Etheridge: (W, 6-0) 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K
3.73 ERA (31.1 IP, 24 H, 15 R, 12 ER, 1 HR, 15 BB, 43 K). He has made five starts and four relief appearances, though every appearance has been an extended outing. Tonight, he averaged 93.8 MPH with his fastball (maxed at 95.8).
RHP Kevin Stevens: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
The 28-year-old is here on a rehab stint (made two appearances in the FCL). He reached 96 MPH with his fastball.
RHP Jordarlin Mendoza0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Mendoza maxed at 99.4 MPH.

FCL Yankees (15-14) (Defeated the Blue Jays, 7-6. The Blue Jays fall to 20-9)

3B Richard Matic1-for-3, R, 2 BB
Matic has reached base safely in all of the Yankees’ 29 games. He is hitting .315/.452/.472 in 135 PA. He has equal BB and K rates (17.8%).
LF Wilberson De Pena2-for-5, HR (8), 3 RBI, R, SB (12)
De Pena leads the FCL in home runs (8) and RBI (36). He is one of six players with an OPS above 1.000 (1.024).
C Queni Pineda0-for-4, BB
2B Leni Done1-for-4, 2 R, BB, K
CF Jose Castro2-for-3, HR (3), RBI, R, BB
I am not sure why he exited the game. Castro doesn’t qualify for rate statistics, but he is hitting .405/.614/.730 in 57 PA. He has walked at least once in all of his 13 games.
   RF Estivenzon Montero0-for-1
RF Francisco Vilorio1-for-4, RBI, SB (1)
The bonus baby is 1-for-13 in four games.
   CF Isael Arias0-for-1
SS Dexters Peralta2-for-5, HR (8), 2 RBI, R, 3 K
Peralta ties De Pena for the league’s home run lead. He is hitting .245/.370/.561 in 119 PA as an 18-year-old, which is good. He owns a 35.3% strikeout rate, however.  He is a switch-hitter, and like most switch hitters his age, he hits much better against RHP (.263/.374/.632 vs. .182/.357/.318).
DH Justin Capellan1-for-3, BB
1B Christofer Reyes1-for-4, R, K

RHP Brian Hendry: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, HR
Hendry’s first rehab appearance. He hadn’t pitched since 2024, when he posted a 0.48 ERA in seven starts (only 18.2 innings) with a 23/9 K/BB. He was their 10th-round pick in the 2023 draft out of Oklahoma State.
RHP Manuel Cruz (W, 2-1): 4 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
RHP Sunayro Martina1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HR
RHP Anthony Mena (S, 1): 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Mena’s 2026 debut. The 21-year-old pitched to a 3.15 ERA in 45.2 innings in the DSL last year. He had a 57/16 K/BB.

DSL Yankees (2-6) (Destroyed the Twins, 13-2. The DSL playoffs are fun for the teams that make them, as they play a large tournament for the DSL Cup. It plays out similarly to the World Cup in soccer – 16 teams (8 division winners, 8 wild cards) participate in pool play (four groups of four teams), with each group winner going on to the semi-finals.)

LF Isaias Castillo: 1-for-4, HR (5), 2 RBI, 4 R, BB, K
We don’t often see promotions from the DSL to the FCL during the season, but Castillo is making his case. In eight games, he is hitting .382/.462/.971 (3 doubles, 1 triple, 5 HR, 11 RBI, 16 R, 3-for-3 SB). Video game.  He is a 17-year-old right-handed batter.
SS Stiven Marinez2-for-4, HR (1), 4 RBI, 2 R, K
The 18-year-old left-handed bat hit one home run in 47 games last season. He should be firmly on your radar.
CF Yostin Pena2-for-4, 2B (5), HR (3), SF, 4 RBI, 2 R, K
As previously stated, the Cardinals voided his deal due to age-related concerns. Maybe he is as old as Juan Soto. I have no idea – what I do know is that he is hitting the snot out of the ball so far.
2B-SS Juan Torres: 3-for-5, 3B (1), R
Meanwhile, Torres quietly keeps hitting. He is 15-for-36 with three 3-hit efforts this season.
C Juan Martinez3-for-5, 2B (2), RBI
The 18-year-old is off to a 10-for-19 start to his career.  He has three walks and has yet to strike out.
RF Manuel Aguilar: 1-for-3, 2B (1), R, SB (1), K
Aguilar, who is only 16, makes his professional debut. From the information I have found, he was signed for $100,000 as a pitcher. Obviously, he is the next Shohei Ohtani.
DH Kendry Diaz1-for-4, 2B (1), 2 R

RHP Jhosneyker Colina (W, 1-0): 5.2 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
Colina deserves to make the highest level based on name alone.
RHP Angel Salazar2.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, HR
LHP Luis Rodriguez1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K

DSL Bombers (1-7) (Lost to the Diamondbacks, 10-2. While neither DSL squad is turning heads, the Bombers have barely been competitive. They have scored 38 runs while allowing a whopping 81)

2B Dariel Santana0-for-3, R, 2 BB, 2 K
SS Mani Cedeno0-for-3, SB (2), 2 BB
It’s too early to feel discouraged, but we need to see Cedeno take a step forward this season.
3B Germayhoni Beltre0-for-1, R, 2 SB (2), 3 BB
Beltre is 4-for-21 with six walks.
1B Poly Ojeda: 2-for-4, 2 K
The 17-year-old catcher makes his professional debut. The Yankees signed him for $30,000.

RHP Cesar Acosta4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Most of the pitching lines for the Bombers this season have been unsuitable for print. Hence, this is a breath of fresh air.
