Notes:
Infield prospect Enmanuel Tejeda, who had a 26-game on-base streak entering tonight, was promoted from Tampa to Hudson Valley. Meanwhile, infield prospect Core Jackson was placed on the injured list for Hudson Valley.
Other promotions announced over the last few days include speedy outfielder Gabriel Lara and catcher Luis Puello going from the FCL to Tampa and utility player Connor McGinnis moving from Hudson Valley to Somerset.
Brando Mayea, an expensive international signing who hasn’t lived up to that expense, is on the injured list for Tampa. Staying healthy has been an issue for Mayea, who hit .297/.373/.500 in the FCL in 2025, but played in only 20 games. This season, in 28 games, he owns a mediocre .209/.293/.309 triple slash over 123 plate appearances.
As for Anthony Volpe‘s promotion, what else could they do? Oswaldo Cabrera is the switch-hitting version of Max Schuemann, so they weren’t going in that direction. Making that statement will make the Cabrera Fan Club cringe, but Schuemann owns a lifetime OPS+ of 74 (.213/.306/.300) while Cabrera’s is 79 (.234/.295/.346). Cabrera has 1.5 fWAR over 302 games, while Schuemann is at 2.0 fWAR over 240 games. I don’t care about the Mets’ desperation with A.J. Ewing or how well he does – the Yankees are not moving George Lombard Jr. to the Major League roster yet.
Scranton (20-17) (Lost to Syracuse, 7-4, in 13 innings)
SS George Lombard Jr.: 0-for-2, 4 BB, K
One thing Volpe’s promotion does is give Lombard Jr. more time at shortstop. He has drawn 16 walks in 11 games (54 PA; 29.6%) since his promotion. Do I want to see more hits? Duh. However, he is obviously seeing the ball well.
1B-LF Seth Brown: 1-for-4, HR (5), RBI, R, BB, K
2B Marco Luciano: 1-for-5, SF, RBI, K
LF-RF Oswaldo Cabrera: 0-for-6, K
Oof.
DH Ernesto Martínez Jr.: 1-for-6
C Payton Henry: 1-for-3, R, 2 BB, K
CF Duke Ellis: 0-for-4, 3 K
Ellis was ejected after arguing over a missed bunt attempt. The assumption I will make is that he didn’t feel as if he offered at it.
PH-1B Ali Sanchez: 0-for-0, BB
Sanchez “saves” the at-bat for Ellis, as he entered the game with an 0-2 count and drew a walk (if he struck out, it would have been credited to Ellis).
3B Jonathan Ornelas: 1-for-5, HR (3), 2 RBI, R, 2 K
RF-CF Kenedy Corona: 1-for-4, R, BB, 2 K
RHP Carlos Lagrange: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K
Lagrange was humming tonight, topping out at 102.8 MPH with his 4-seamer. He also threw a 100.9 MPH sinker and averaged 91 MPH with his 43 sliders. The arm is insane – one of the best arms in professional baseball at any level. That doesn’t guarantee success, of course. On the season, he owns a 4.32 ERA over 33.1 IP with 27 hits allowed and a 46/20 K/BB.
RHP Harrison Cohen: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR
RHP Yerry de los Santos: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
RHP Dylan Coleman: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K
6.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 7 K
RHP Rafael Montero: 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
RHP Carson Coleman: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
Coleman worked around the “Manfred Man” impressively for two innings. He owns a 4.02 ERA over 15.2 innings (11 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 0 HR, 9 BB, 18 K)
RHP Danny Watson: (L, 3-1) 1 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Watson tossed a scoreless 12th, but his defense failed him to start the 13th.
RHP Edinson Duran: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Duran was needed, yet again. This was the catcher’s third pitching appearance this season. As stated the last time he pitched, Duran can hit 90 MPH.
Somerset (16-18) (Shut down Binghamton, 3-0)
LF Jace Avina: 3-for-4, 2B (9), 2 RBI, R, K
Avina compiles three of their five hits. After a .198/.267/.469 April, he is hitting .333/.378/.667 in May. As of this writing, he is 4th in the Eastern League in RBI (26), and his nine home runs are only two away from the league’s home run leader.
CF Garrett Martin: 0-for-3, BB, K
LF Jackson Castillo: 0-for-4, 3 K
Castillo doesn’t reach base for the first time this season (16th game).
3B Tyler Hardman: 1-for-3, RBI, BB, 2 K
Hardman is 16-for-40 (.400) with six home runs and 16 RBI in May.
1B Coby Morales: 0-for-4, K
C Manuel Palencia: 0-for-4, K
2B Connor McGinnis: 1-for-2, R, HBP
McGinnis, their 10th-round pick in 2025 (Houston), hit .241/.300/.362 with four doubles and a home run in 19 games for Hudson Valley this season. He played second base and left field for the Renegades.
DH Duncan Pastore: 0-for-2, R, BB, 2 K
SS Owen Cobb: 0-for-2, SAC
RHP Trent Sellers: (W, 1-1) 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K
Sellers lowers his ERA from 9.74 to 7.82. Have to start somewhere, right? Over 25.1 innings, he has allowed 26 runs (22 earned) on 33 hits with a 37/16 K/BB.
RHP Matt Keating: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
RHP Michael Arias: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
LHP Geoffrey Gilbert: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K
3.09 ERA (11.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 HR, 8 BB, 11 K)
LHP Will Brian (S, 2): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
3.31 ERA (16.1 IP, 12 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 HR, 5 BB, 24 K). All games count, but his ERA is skewed by an outing where he allowed five runs over 0.2 innings.
Hudson Valley (18-15) (Lost to Frederick, 9-3)
SS Kaeden Kent: 1-for-5, R
.326/.402/.488 in April; .333/.391/.452 in May. I like consistency.
DH Eric Genther: 1-for-5, R, K
1B Kyle West: 3-for-5, RBI, R, 2 K
West is 7-for-14 over his last three games, increasing his average from .168 to .205.
RF Wilson Rodriguez: 0-for-3, CI, BB, 2 K
3B Roderick Arias: 0-for-2, SB (11), HBP, BB
.220/.331/.300 in 118 PA with a 10.2% BB and 29.7% K.
2B Enmanuel Tejeda: 1-for-3, SB (1), BB
Tejeda extends his on-base streak to 27. His final line in Tampa was .232/.392/.384 with a 19.4% BB and 20.8% K over 144 plate appearances. Additionally, he went 12-for-16 stealing bases.
C Josue Gonzalez: 0-for-3, BB, K
LF Josh Moylan: 0-for-4, 2 K
CF Camden Troyer: 1-for-4
RHP Bryce Cunningham: (L, 0-1) 2.1 IP, 2 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, HR
Cunningham’s third appearance in 2026 doesn’t go well. If you want some good news, he has 13 strikeouts over 8.2 innings.
RHP Andrew Landry: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
RHP Jack Sokol: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
1.54 ERA (11.2 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 HR, 4 BB, 14 K

2.95 ERA (18.1 IP, 12 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 HR, 5 BB, 18 K)
Tampa (16-18) (Defeated Dunedin, 2-1)
3B Jackson Lovich: 2-for-5, RBI, R, SB (6), 2 K
Lovich, who walked it off with two outs in the 9th, has an 8-game hitting streak (13-for-33).
SS Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek: 1-for-4, 2B (3), K

C Engelth Urena: 0-for-3, BB, K
DH Ediel Rivera: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K
CF Luis Durango: 1-for-4, SB (8)
Durango has hit safely in 10 of his 11 rehab games. As for the eight stolen bases in ten games, stealing bases is one of his tools. He has 112 in 237 career games.
LF Gabriel Lara: 0-for-3, HBP, 2 K
The speedy outfielder reaches Tampa after 41 FCL games. After stealing 32 bases in 81 DSL games, however, he only went 6-for-12 in the FCL.

LHP Pedro Rodriguez: (W, 1-0) 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
10.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 17 K. Rodriguez throws a wide variety of pitches, and can hit the 94-95 range with his cutter.
FCL Yankees (5-3) (Lost to the Tigers, 6-4. The Tigers earn their first win this season)
3B Richard Matic: 1-for-4, 2B (3), RBI, R, K
