Yankees MILB 4/4: George Lombard Jr. Doubles, Walks

Top 30 Prospects

Injury Log

Notes:

I have nothing to offer you tonight.  Happy Easter!  Tomorrow’s report will be delayed due to the holiday. Please forgive me as I leave the house for the first time (other than to walk the dogs) since December 28, 2024.

Scranton (5-3) (Defeated Rochester, 4-3)

LF Jasson Dominguez1-for-3, 2B (2), BB, K
You know what? It’s hard to report on Dominguez because what can he possibly do down here that will impress anyone, beyond the stuff the boxscore doesn’t show us (defense)?  In case you are wondering, he is 2-for-4 with a double and a home run against LHP so far.
SS Oswaldo Cabrera0-for-4
2B Max Schuemann1-for-3, CS (1), BB, K
CF Spencer Jones0-for-3, BB, K
RF Yanquiel Fernandez0-for-4, 2 K
8-for-31 with a double, five home runs, three walks, and ten strikeouts.
DH Seth Brown2-for-4, HR (1), RBI, 2 R, K
1B Ernesto Martinez Jr.1-for-4, 2B (3), R, K
9-for-30 with three doubles, a triple, and a home run.
3B Paul DeJong1-for-3, HR (2), SF, 2 RBI, R, K
We know from his MLB history that DeJong can hit some home runs (146 homers in 925 games)
C Payton Henry1-for-3, RBI, BB, 2 K

RHP Dom Hamel3.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, HR
RHP Yerry de los Santos (W, 1-1): 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
RHP Angel Chivilli2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
Chivilli threw a 100.2 MPH pitch today (averaged 98.7). That said, of his 25 pitches, only four were fastballs as he threw 11 sliders and ten changeups.
RHP Kervin Castro (S, 1): 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

Somerset (1-1) (Lost to Portland, 1-0, after scoring 18 runs on Opening Night. Baseball!)

SS George Lombard Jr.1-for-3, 2B (2), CS (1), BB
Keep it up, George!
LF Jace Avina1-for-4
RF Garrett Martin0-for-4, 2 K
2B Marco Luciano1-for-4, 2B (2)
1B Coby Morales1-for-4, K
3B Tyler Hardman0-for-3
CF Kenedy Corona0-for-2, BB
DH DJ Gladney0-for-3, K
Signed as a minor league free agent over the winter, the 24-year-old struggled at this level in 2025 (.235/.277/.368). If you want a positive, he reached double digits in home runs for the fourth straight year.
C Manuel Palencia0-for-3, 2 K
The 23-year-old reached a career high in games played last year (66). He hit .272/.319/.350 in 243 plate appearances between the FCL, Hudson Valley, and Somerset.

LHP Kyle Carr (L, 0-1): 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K
A “bend, don’t break” performance for Carr, who pitched well in Hudson Valley in 2025, but struggled a bit after his promotion here (only three starts).
LHP Xavier Rivas2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K
Rivas was dominant down the stretch in 2025 (in five starts after being promoted to Hudson Valley, he posted a 1.23 ERA in 29.1 innings with a 44/14 K/BB). That was enough for the Yankees to promote him to Somerset to begin the 2026 season.
RHP Hayden Merda1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Surviving the purge over the last week is an accomplishment in its own right. In 2025, he posted a 4.00 ERA in 44 games (54 innings) with a 64/32 K/BB between Hudson Valley and Somerset.
LHP Will Brian: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
The 26-year-old put himself on the map last year by posting a 2.08 ERA in 43.1 innings with a 50/19 K/BB.

Hudson Valley (2-0) (Defeated Brooklyn, 8-1)

SS Core Jackson3-for-5, 2B (1), HR (1), 2 RBI, R, CS (1)
The Yankees’ farmhands have a knack for leadoff home runs thus far in 2026.  This is his first professional homer.
2B Kaeden Kent2-for-4, R, BB
DH Kyle West2-for-5, R, 3 K
LF Wilson Rodriguez0-for-3, 2 R, 2 BB, K
C Eric Genther0-for-3, RBI, R, 2 HBP, K
Listed as an outfielder, this was Genther’s first professional appearance behind the dish (19th career game). He caught two games for the University of Rhode Island and eight in the Hamptons Collegiate League (summer league).  The Yankees need catching depth desperately.
3B Roderick Arias: 2-for-5, RBI
Maybe he was bored in Low-A and is about to go off. That isn’t likely, but nothing wrong with early-season hope.
1B Josh Moylan0-for-4, BB, 2 K
CF Cole Gabrielson: 1-for-3, RBI, R, SB (1), BB
RF Robbie Burnett: 0-for-1
The 5’8″ Burnett was signed as a non-drafted free agent out of Georgia, where he hit .307/.477/.693 while leading the team in home runs (20) and stolen bases (17). Never anything wrong with taking a flyer on a player who had success in the SEC.
   RF Camden Troyer: 0-for-3, R, 3 K

RHP Sean Paul Linan2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
Acquired for Jorbit Vivas, Linan is a changeup specialist who may be destined for the bullpen (unless the Yankees can develop another pitch or two in his arsenal).  In case you are wondering, Vivas (who is out of options) is 5-for-14 (all singles) with two walks and two strikeouts.
LHP Tanner Bauman (W, 1-0): 0.2 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
The least effective pitcher “earns” the win!  Baseball!  The 23-year-old stands 6’5″ and was their 9th round pick in the 2024 draft out of Auburn.  His 2025 debut campaign didn’t go according to plan.
RHP Hansel Rincon: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
It has been quite a journey for the 23-year-old, who the Yankees chose in the Triple-A phase of the 2025 Rule 5 draft. Today was his first appearance since 2023.
RHP Baron Stuart2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K
RHP Jackson Fristoe1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
The 25-year-old Fristoe was moved to the bullpen in 2025. He compiled a 4.30 ERA in 32 games (58.2 IP) with a 46/32 K/BB.

Tampa (0-2) (Lost to Lakeland, 13-4)

2B Enmanuel Tejeda1-for-5, 2B (1), R, 3 K
He doesn’t hit for much power or strike out often. So, naturally, he does both tonight.
CF Brando Mayea1-for-4, BB, K
DH Engelth Urena0-for-4, R, BB, 2 K
SS Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek: 1-for-4, CS (1)
LF Logan Maxwell3-for-4, RBI, R, SB (2), K
I listed his stats for Arkansas last year yesterday. Like with Burnett, signing undrafted solid SEC players to free agent contracts seems like a smart strategy.
RF JoJo Jackson1-for-3, R, BB, K
C Ediel Rivera: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 K
The 20-year-old made his professional debut in 2025 after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Puerto Rico in 2024 (the next Jorge Posada? We wish!). He hit .212/.335/.308 with two home runs in 251 plate appearances.
1B Austin Green1-for-4, K
3B Kevin Verde0-for-3, SB (1), BB
The 20-year-old makes his full-season debut after spending three years in the DSL/FCL. He didn’t hit at all in 45 FCL games in 2025.

RHP Yerry Rodriguez (L, 0-1): 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
The Yankees have two Yerry’s in their organization. This Yerry is a 28-year-old with a minor-league career dating back to 2016 (he was signed to a minor-league deal last winter).  Obviously, given his age and experience, he is here on a rehab stint.
LHP Henry Lalane2.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 2 K
Not only was this a rough outing, but he also averaged only 93.2 MPH with his 4-seamer. This is a huge year for the 6’7″ 21-year-old who has struggled with injuries and ineffectiveness since his days in the rookie leagues.
RHP Jose M. Rodriguez: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 6 K
Oof. The 22-year-old earned a promotion here in 2025, but his 28 innings didn’t go as he would have liked.  He featured a 6-pitch mix tonight, generating nine whiffs (five with his sinker).
LHP Jose Ledesma1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
Full season debut for the 22-year-old. He had a tough time in the FCL last year (6.53 ERA in 20.2 innings).
RHP Santiago Gomez: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
The 22-year-old Shohei Ohtani impersonator makes his 12th career pitching appearance (he’s also played first base, second base, shortstop, third base, left field, and right field – making him *more* valuable than Ohtani).
RHP Greg Bozzo: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Professional debut for the 23-year-old catcher out of Northeastern. Correct – he debuted as a pitcher before he debuted as a position player.
