Notes:
C Eric Genther was placed on the injured list by Hudson Valley, ending his season (unless he comes back quickly and they give him a few games in Somerset or Scranton).
Genther, a left-handed bat signed as an undrafted free agent in 2025 (Rhode Island), has been one of the surprises in the organization this season, posting a .274/.407/.440 (128 wRC+) line over 490 plate appearances. He has swatted 14 home runs.
The Yankees reintroduced catching to Genther this season. As you may suspect, it hasn’t been a smooth ride, as he has committed 16 errors and allowed 11 passed balls over 555.2 innings. Additionally, he is 22-for-218 (10.1%) throwing out basestealers. I suspect he will remain behind the plate.
RHP Ty Boudreau, who has pitched very well during Tampa’s run to the playoffs, was also placed on the injured list. Over 106.2 innings this season, he owns a 3.29 ERA (3.86 FIP) with a 27.6% K, 9.4% BB, and 38.5% GB. Like Genther, Boudreau was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2025 (Texas Tech). He was born in Canada.

CF Jackson Lovich: 2-for-5, HR (5), 3 RBI, 2 R, SB (18)
Lovich, who owns a 5-game hitting streak, has 23 home runs, 87 RBI, 84 runs, and 39 stolen bases in 48 attempts between here and Tampa. He is the organizational leader in RBI and runs (tied with Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek). His terrific season comes with a .372 BABIP (.458 since his promotion), so keep that in mind.

McCann has eight home runs in 20 games at this level (17 home runs in 65 games overall).

Tejeda’s performance since his promotion has been up and down. He hit well in June (.279/.397/.458) and August (.288/.387/.350), but struggled in May (10-for-54; .185) and July (.160/.247/.222).

A much-needed night for Montero, who has struggled since his promotion. He is a perfect 6-for-6 stealing bases and 24-for-27 overall in that category.

LHP Allen Facundo: (W, 6-3) 5 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 7 K
The ultimate bend-don’t-break night. Facundo posted a 4.44 ERA over 99.1 innings at this level, striking out an impressive 123 batters. However, he walked 71. Between here and Tampa, he struck out 148 hitters over 114.1 frames. His future is likely out of the bullpen. As impressive as his arm is, he wasn’t drafted in last year’s Rule 5. If there is a Rule 5 in 2026 (up in the air with the looming lockout), will the Yankees be compelled to protect him? Borderline case.)

Tampa (77-49; 42-18 in the second half) (Swept a doubleheader against Dunedin. The Tarpons have won ten straight. In case you are wondering about their history: Tampa hasn’t won a title since 2010, when they were the Yankees’ High-A affiliate. That squad featured several future MLB players, including the “Killer Bs” (Dellin Betances, Andrew Brackman, and Manny Banuelos). Others on that pitching staff included Adam Warren and Chase Whitley, best known for debuting against the Mets and facing the debuting Jacob deGrom. The offense included cup-of-coffee outfielders Zoilo Almonte and Melky Mesa, along with journeyman Abraham Almonte)

De Pena is in a 10-for-63 slump after starting his Tampa journey 4-for-13 with two home runs.

Armstrong’s home run traveled 405 feet.

The home run was no cheapie, traveling 421 feet. He has homered in back-to-back games and is hitting .354/.536/.708 in 69 PA. He has 17 walks and only nine strikeouts.

Pettitte is 9-for-32 (.281) with a pair of doubles and three home runs.

Gomez topped out at 97.9 MPH. That’s a bit down from his 99-100+ readings, but I don’t see a reason for concern. His cutter averaged 89 MPH.

Escudero has slowed down after six straight multi-hit efforts, though he did walk five times on August 28th. Only 20, he is hitting .285/.458/.549 in 49 games at this level (11 doubles, 9 HR, 27 RBI, 43 R, 13-for-15 SB, 22.9% BB, 17.7% K). The switch-hitter is primarily a second baseman who has mixed in some starts at third base during his career.

Marquez was given a taste of this level in 2025 and struggled to an 8.57 ERA in 21 innings. This season, after spending more time in the FCL, he pitched better here: 3.62 ERA over 27.1 innings with a 26/10 K/BB.
