Yankees MILB 6/17: Luis Serna Tosses 7 Solid Innings

Injury Log

Notes:

Clarification on Richard Matic‘s on-base streak:  It is still 32, not 33, because yesterday’s game is not official. They will try to finish that game tomorrow, but if it never resumes, his home run will be wiped out of the record books. The game that was suspended last week, however, is official. If that game never restarts, it will go down as a tie.  Hence, it already counts towards his on-base streak. Got that? Good. There’s a quiz tomorrow.

OF Jace Avina was activated off the injured list today for Somerset.

Scranton (35-34)

Their game against Columbus was postponed, and they will try to play two on Friday. No word on George Lombard Jr.‘s status. All we know is that he isn’t (yet) on the injured list.

Lombard Jr. has been scorching in June, hitting .306/.426/.571. That has boosted his Triple-A triple slash to .231/.381/.385 (110 wRC+) and his overall line to .258/.387/.446 (124 wRC+). He is tied for 7th amongst all minor leaguers with 20 doubles.

RHP Luis Velasquez: (L, 0-1)  0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Tampa (35-30) (Lost to Ft. Myers, 9-7)

SS Jackson Lovich: 0-for-4, 3 K
Lovich has hit well all season, but it does come with a 28.1% K.  He did a nice job reducing that from 31.6% in April to 24.7% in May. It’s 28.6% thus far in June.

Jackson has four multi-hit efforts in his last six games and is hitting .368/.500/.500 in June. Overall, the 23-year-old is hitting .268/.401/.384.  He is old for the level but injuries have held him back.
CF Willy Montero0-for-3, R, BB, K
C Engelth Urena1-for-3, HR (5), 2 RBI, R, BB
.213/.371/.365 in 224 PA (10 doubles, 1 triple, 5 HR, 27 RBI, 30 R, 6-for-9 SB, 18.3% BB, 20.5% K).  Urena is 10-for-35 (.286/.390/.571; 1 double, 3 HR, 13 RBI) in June. Is the 21-year-old’s bat starting to develop?  The Yankees did play him in 22 games in Hudson Valley last season, so he’ll at least have familiariy if/when they promote him.
