Yankees MILB 5/19: George Lombard Jr.: 3 Hits

Top 30 Prospects

Injury Log

Notes:

RHP Eric Reyzelman, who has been humming for Somerset, is back with Scranton. Reyzelman struggled mightily in 2025 to the point where the Yankees decided not to protect him in the Rule 5 draft. He has turned that around this year, and I can’t wait to see the Savant data.

To replace him in Somerset, RHP Chris Veach is joining the Patriots.  In 13 games for Hudson Valley, he posted a 0.63 ERA (1.44 FIP) over 14.1 innings with a 44.6% K and 7.1% BB.

RHP Gerrit Cole will take the hill for the series opener against the Rays on Friday night.

Scranton (24-20) (Destroyed Lehigh Valley, 15-4)

SS George Lombard Jr.: 3-for-5, 2B (1), 2 RBI, 3 R, SB (4), BB, K
Lombard Jr. has back-to-back multi-hit efforts, and this is his first Triple-A extra-base hit. His overall profile doesn’t scream that he is having trouble adjusting. He entered today with a low BABIP (.191 – now up to .235) and has more walks (18) than strikeouts (12). Perhaps the results are catching up.
RF Yanquiel Fernandez: 3-for-6, 2 HR (11), 6 RBI, 2 R
Well, that’s a nice night. The depth outfielder has produced in the minors in the past (has a 25-home run campaign and a 109 RBI campaign).  Anyway, he has three 2-HR games this season, driving home six in two of them.  He is hitting .258/.311/.523 in 164 plate appearances.

SS Kaeden Kent1-for-4, R, SB (11), BB
RF Wilson Rodriguez2-for-5, 2 R.
Rodriguez’s solid May continues (18-for-55; .327). He seems to have an advanced knowledge of the strike zone. As we know, some prospects never figure out the strike zone.  As for the power, the potential is there. It hasn’t shown up yet, however.
DH Eric Genther: 2-for-4, HR (1, GS), 5 RBI, R, BB, 2 K
Genther had one home run and 10 RBI in 51 career games entering today.
