SS Anthony Volpe2-for-4, 2B (1), R, SB (1), HBP
Unlike many Yankees’ infield prospects, Volpe hasn’t been asked to play away from shortstop often. He has two games at second base and three at third base in his minor league career.

LHP Carlos Rodon6.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HR
As long as he comes out of this game OK, his next start will be against the Brewers. He threw 83 pitches (49 strikes). His 4-seam fastball averaged 93.2 MPH tonight (he averaged 94.1 in MLB last season)
RHP Yovanny Cruz: (L, 4-1) 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Cruz was humming tonight (maxed out at 101.2 MPH; averaged 99.9).  Is he a viable bullpen candidate in 2026?  If he keeps throwing like this, why wouldn’t he be?  As I keep saying, it’s all about limiting walks.

Somerset (12-16) (Lost to Reading, 14-12. The two squads combined for 37 hits, including ten doubles and six home runs. As of this writing, the Patriots are second in the league in average (.285), fourth in OBP (.361), and first in SLG (.512), OPS (.873), and home runs (52). Broken record alert: This is not normal for the Eastern League)

2B Marco Luciano3-for-4, 2B (7), HR (9), 3 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB
Luciano continues to enjoy time in this suddenly juiced-up league. He owns a 7-game hitting streak (12-for-25; 1 double, 5 HR, 11 RBI). Overall, he is hitting .326/.411/.696 in 107 PA and is tied for the Eastern League lead in home runs (third in SLG and OPS).

The normally reliable Brian sees his ERA spike from 0.66 to 3.77 in one day.
LHP Geoffrey Gilbert0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

Hudson Valley (14-13) (Lost to Winston-Salem, 6-1. An offensive clinic, this was not)

69 pitches/49 strikes. Cole still hasn’t won a minor league game since 2014.  How much money does he make again?
RHP Brandon Decker0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, HR
RHP Bryce Cunningham3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K
I wonder how much Cunningham picked Cole’s brain.  He threw 52 pitches as he continues to build himself up.
RHP Wilmy Sanchez0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K

SS Jackson Lovich: 2-for-5, 3B (1), 2 RBI, 2 R
