Yankees MILB 4/10: Logan Maxwell Hits 2 HR

Top 30 Prospects

Injury Log

Notes:

RHP Cade Winquest, who I am not sure exists, was designated for assignment to make room for Luis GilIf a team claims Winquest, the Rule 5 rules transfer with him. In other words, if the Rangers claim him, he must be added to the 26-man roster and would need to pass through waivers if they decided to cut him.

Most players clear waivers. Once that happens, Winquest will be offered back to St. Louis. The Cardinals would take him back, as there is no reason for them to allow the Yankees to keep him for nothing.

The Yankees could work out a small trade with the Cardinals to keep him, but that is rare as well.

LHP Pico Kohn was placed on the injured list for Hudson Valley. Kohn, a Top 30 prospect, made only one start before landing on the list.

Tampa (3-4) (Shut down Clearwater, 9-0)

SS Jackson Lovich: 2-for-4, 2 2B (2), 2 RBI, R, SB (1), BB, K
Lovich doesn’t appear on Top 30 lists (including mine) due to position and contact concerns. So far, in a very small A-Ball sample size dating back to last year, he is hitting (17-for-30; 6 doubles, 2 triples, 1 HR, 5 BB, 6 K). As for the position, they are using him at shortstop, but it is doubtful it’s his long-term spot.
3B Enmanuel Tejeda0-for-4, R, BB, 2 K
He has not hit like Tejeda thus far. He is 1-for-21 and has ten strikeouts in 32 plate appearances. He had a 13.4% strikeout rate at this level in 2025.
DH Engelth Urena0-for-3, R, 2 BB, K
Tough to put so much pressure on a 21-year-old catcher, but he is their catching prospect. There’s nothing else on the horizon, folks (and his “horizon” is light-years away as well).  So far, he is only 2-for-22, though he has drawn nine walks.
LF Logan Maxwell2-for-4, 2 HR (2), 5 RBI, 2 R, CS (1), BB, K
Maxwell’s first professional home runs (397 feet, 102.7 MPH; 377 feet, 101.8 MPH). As a reminder, he was signed as an undrafted free agent last year out of Arkansas. He was the Razorbacks’ team leader last year in batting average (.356) while ranking second in OBP (.454) and OPS (1.059).
CF Willy Montero1-for-4, R, BB, 2 K
RF JoJo Jackson1-for-4, HR (1), 2 RBI, R, 2 K
Jackson’s first professional home run (390 feet; 106.1 MPH)
C Ediel Rivera0-for-3, R, HBP, K
2B Austin Green0-for-3, R, BB
1B Hans Montero0-for-3, HBP, K

LHP Justin West: (W, 1-1)  5.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K
Nice bounce-back after a 2.2 IP, 6 H, 6 R debut.  As mentioned after his debut, he is a sinker-slider-change type who doesn’t throw hard (averaged 90.9 MPH with the sinker tonight.
RHP Jose M. Martinez: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K
LHP Pedro Rodriguez1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
