Notes:
So far, the news has been rather boring.
Scranton (6-3)
Their game against Durham was postponed due to the cold weather. They will attempt to make it up on April 10th.
Somerset (1-1)
Their game against Binghamton was postponed due to inclement weather. They will attempt to make it up tomorrow.
Hudson Valley (2-1) (Lost to Wilmington, 8-6, in 11 innings)
SS Core Jackson: 0-for-5
2B Kaeden Kent: 0-for-5, R, K
1B Kyle West: 0-for-5, RBI, K
RF Wilson Rodriguez: 0-for-4, BB
Well, it is tough to win when the top four batters go 0-for-19.
DH Eric Genther: 3-for-5, 2 R, SB (1), K
Genther’s first career 3-hit effort.
3B Roderick Arias: 1-for-5, 2B (1), RBI, CS (1), 3 K
Reportedly, Core Jackson is a very good defensive shortstop. Three games isn’t a trend, but it is worth monitoring how much time Arias gets at shortstop in 2026.
LF Josh Moylan: 2-for-4, 2B (1), 3B (1), RBI, R, K
PR-LF Cole Gabrielson: 0-for-0
CF Camden Troyer: 2-for-4, 2B (1), 3B (1), RBI, 2 R, 2 K
You don’t see back-to-back triples as much as you used to! His double turned into a Little League Home Run when the right fielder misplayed the ball. I didn’t realize Jasson Dominguez was traded to the Nationals.
C Josue Gonzalez: 0-for-1, SF, RBI, BB, HBP
LHP Franyer Herrera: 3.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K
Hudson Valley debut for the 20-year-old. He pitched in only five games (all out of the pen) for Tampa in 2025 (10 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 12 K)
RHP Jack Sokol: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K
In his 2025 debut campaign, Sokol posted a 3.60 ERA in 45 innings for Tampa. He struck out 40 and walked 22. He was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh.
RHP Chris Veach: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
RHP Andrew Landry: 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
The 24-year-old Landry, who was chosen in the 16th round in 2023, pitched to a 3.98 ERA in eight starts (43.1 innings) at this level last year. He also made 15 appearances (14 starts) for Tampa and pitched a combined 112 innings.
RHP Tony Rossi: (L, 0-1) 1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Tampa (0-4) (Lost to Clearwater, 4-1)
CF Brando Mayea: 0-for-4
3-for-18 with a double.
3B Enmanuel Tejeda: 0-for-2, R, CS (2), 2 BB, K
DH Engelth Urena: 1-for-4, 2B (1), K
Urena earns his first hit of 2026 (1-for-14).
RF Logan Maxwell: 1-for-4, 2B (1), RBI
Maxwell’s first career extra-base hit (only his third game)
SS Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek: 0-for-4
LF Willy Montero: 0-for-3, BB, K
C Ediel Rivera: 0-for-3, K
2B Austin Green: 0-for-2, BB
1B Hans Montero: 1-for-2, 2B (1), BB
RHP Blake Gillespie: 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K
The professional debut for the 22-year-old, who was drafted in the 9th round in the 2025 draft out of Charlotte. He spent his first two years at Georgia, where he was rarely used, before transferring. In his one year at Charlotte, he made 15 starts, going 7-4 with a 2.42 ERA and 131/19 K/BB over 100.1 innings. Looking at his Savant data tonight, he doesn’t throw hard (averaged 89.8 MPH with his 4-seamer). However, he did register six whiffs with his changeup and three with his slider (his most-used offering).
RHP Brian Arias: (L, 0-1) 1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
Not a great outing, but the Yankees probably like his mid-90s sinker. Injuries have been a massive issue for him since he signed.
RHP Matthew Tippie: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, HR
Tippie generates good spin with his curve (2,636 RPM) and likes to use it. He hits the lower-90s with his 4-seam/sinker combination.
