Lombard Jr. owns a 5-game hitting streak (6-for-21; 2 doubles, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K). Known for his ability to draw walks, tonight ended an 8-game drought in that category. Additionally, he hasn’t stolen a base since June 28th. Those last two facts shouldn’t concern you, but the hitting streak that includes some power should encourage you.

His first start at this level wasn’t great (6 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K). The follow-up is much better. The home run is only the second home run he has allowed this season (96.2 IP), and he owns a 109/39 K/BB.  Expect his name to come up in trade talks.

It was going to be impossible for Peralta to recover fully from his dreadful start. After a .097/.171/.097 May, he put up a .103/.232/.121 June. All the credit to the 18-year-old for not giving up on his season, and he is hitting .271/.333/.438 in July.
