Yankees MILB 8/9: Everson Pereira Homers, Drives Home 5

News:

I have nothing to share.

Scranton (51-56; 17-16 in the second half) (Knocked off Syracuse, 9-5)

SS Oswald Peraza0-for-1, 3 RS, 4 BB
We all know that Peraza had a 4 BB game for the MLB squad this year – this is his first such game in his minor league career.
C Austin Wells: 3-for-5, 2B (6), 2 RBI, 2 RS
Wells has six doubles in 16 games since his promotion (20 doubles in 74 games between here and Somerset). He is up to .273 with a .753 OPS in 16 games since his promotion.
RF Everson Pereira2-for-4, HR (6), 5 RBI, 2 RS, BB
Pereira has 30 RBI and 22 runs scored in 26 games since his promotion. Between Scranton and Somerset, he is hitting .309/.371/.559 with 16 homers and 61 RBI in 72 games. Furthermore, Pereira has seven multi-hit games in his last 11 games played.
3B Andres Chaparro0-for-4, BB, 2 K
DH Franchy Cordero1-for-4, RBI, 2 K
2B Jamie Westbrook1-for-4, 2B (13)
LF Michael Hermosillo0-for-4, 2 K
1B Jake Lamb0-for-3, RS, BB, 2 K
CF Brandon Lockridge1-for-4, RS, 2 K

RHP Will Warren5 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, HR
Since promotion: 5.24 ERA (55 IP, 55 H, 41 R, 32 ER, 11 HR, 29 BB, 57 K)
RHP Aaron McGarity1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
RHP Zach McAllister: (W, 1-0)  1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
RHP Greg Weissert: (S, 8)  1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR

Somerset (60-42; 18-16 in the second half) (Lost to Binghamton, 4-2)

CF Jasson Dominguez2-for-4, 2B (14), 2 SB (35)
Dominguez increases his hitting streak to eight, including four straight multi-hit games. During this stretch, he is 15-for-34 (.441/.500/.647; 4 doubles, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 6 R, 4 BB, 6 K, 6-for-7 SB). Overall, his line is up to .245/.365/.396 in 455 PA (14 doubles, 2 triples, 13 HR, 58 RBI, 71 R, 72 BB (15.8%), 118 K (25.9%), 35-for-42 SB (83.3%)). He is certainly earning that spot atop the Yankees’ prospect list.
1B Ben Rice0-for-3, BB, 2 K, SB (4)
Rice didn’t show much interest in stealing bases in 2021-2022, swiping five in 90 games. He has eight in 41 games this year, including four in his last five games.
C Agustin Ramirez1-for-4, K
Ramirez’s first Double-A hit. A common question I receive is about his defense. If he continues to hit like he is doing in 2023, you won’t care much about his defense. That said, I haven’t read anything that indicates that he will need to move off of the catching position.
LF Elijah Dunham0-for-4
2B Anthony Seigler2-for-4, HR (2), RBI, RS, K
Seigler’s first career start at 2B. Recently, Mickey Gasper and Aaron Palensky made their first career starts at second base.
DH Josh Breaux1-for-3, HR (5), RBI, RS, BB, K
Crazy that Seigler and Breaux, once considered the future behind the plate, homer on the same day with neither playing the catcher position. Anyway, Breaux hit 13 HR in 59 games for Somerset last year – should surprise nobody that he has five in 16 games this year.
SS Jesus Bastidas1-for-3, BB, K, CS (1)
3B Max Burt0-for-3, HBP, K, CS (5)
RF Aaron Palensky0-for-3, K

RHP Yoendrys Gomez (L, 0-2): 4.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 2 HR
Gomez was done in by a pair of 2-run homers. He reached 64 pitches today.
RHP Bailey Dees2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Just like with Danny Watson, don’t be surprised if Dees’ strikeout rate falls in his first taste of Double-A. Eventually, Watson started to bring his up.
RHP Alex Mauricio2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
3.46 ERA (39 IP, 36 H, 16 R, 15 ER, 4 HR, 12 BB, 38 K)

Hudson Valley (57-45; 18-17 in the second half) (Lost to Jersey Shore, 9-2)

CF Spencer Jones0-for-4, CI, 2 K
SS Jared Serna1-for-4, K
DH Christopher Familia0-for-3, BB
C Rafael Flores0-for-4, 2 K
2B Ben Cowles1-for-3, 2B (15), RS, BB, K, SB (16)
Cowles increases his hitting streak to seven. He is hitting .257/.348/.403 in 351 PA.
3B Jesus Rodriguez: 3-for-4, 2B (1), RBI, 2 RS
4-for-7 in his first two games at this level. He had 28 multi-hit games for Tampa (84 games) and is one of the most consistent hitters in the system this season (.303/.383/.432)
RF Anthony Hall0-for-2, CI, BB, K
1B Spencer Henson1-for-4, 2B (16), RBI, K
LF Jared Wegner: 2-for-4, 2B (1), RBI, K
Wegner doubled in his first High-A AB. Though he was drafted this year, he is already 24 years old so they are smart to aggressively move him to High-A.

RHP Baron Stuart: (L, 1-1)  6 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 2 HR
Stuart threw 89 pitches. There is always that fine line with prospects – you want them to get their full work in but you don’t want them to feel overwhelmed. To Stuart’s credit, he tossed a scoreless 6th after giving up five runs in the 5th.
RHP Mason Vinyard1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, HR
Since promotion: 3.60 ERA (20 IP, 17 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 2 HR, 15 BB, 20 K)
RHP Harrison Cohen: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Since promotion: 1.99 ERA (31.2 IP, 22 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 2 HR, 13 BB, 38 K)

Tampa (49-54; 18-19 in the second half) (Lost to Clearwater, 10-8)

3B Kiko Romero: 2-for-6, 2B (1), RBI, RS, K
Romero is 6-for-26 at this level with a pair of multi-hit efforts.
LF Coby Morales0-for-4, RS, 2 BB, 2 K
C Omar Martinez0-for-4, RS, 2 BB, 3 K
1B Josh Moylan1-for-3, 2 RS, 2 BB, K
Moylan is 5-for-16 (HR, 3 RBI, 6 R, 6 BB). He should play well at this level.
SS Brenny Escanio2-for-5, 2 RBI, RS, 2 K
RF Garrett Martin1-for-2, 2B (2), RBI, RS, HBP, 2 BB, K
4-for-19 with a pair of doubles.
CF Tayler Aguilar0-for-2, SF, RBI, HBP, BB
DH Cole Gabrielson0-for-4, RBI, RS, BB
2B Beau Brewer3-for-5, RBI
Brewer has three straight multi-hit games (five in his last seven games)

RHP Cam Schlittler4.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
He allowed three runs in three innings in his first appearance at this level, so nice improvement.
RHP Ocean Gabonia1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
RHP Anderson Munoz: 0.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, HR
The 25-year-old is on a rehab stint (he missed all of 2022). Tonight, he was hitting as high as 95.9 on the gun.
RHP Huey Morrill: (L, 0-1) 1.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, HR
RHP Montana Semmell: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, HR

FCL Yankees (25-19)

Day off.

DSL Yankees (27-14)

Day off.

DSL Bombers (20-23-1) (They completed a suspended game from July 13th…it ended in a 5-5 tie)

2B Gabriel Terrero2-for-4, RBI, K
CF Gabriel Lara1-for-1, RS, 2 BB, SB (9), CS (4)
The totals retrofit back to the date the game started. Lara actually has 15 stolen bases in 21 attempts and is hitting .256/.395/.408 in 157 PA

RHP Joshawn Lampson5.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 K
