Yankees MILB 7/27: Jasson Dominguez Collects 3 Hits

News:

Both C Anthony Seigler (Somerset) and OF Anthony Hall (Tampa) returned from lengthy injury list stays today. Seigler is readded to the upper-level catcher mix, where the Yankees have several prospects competing for playing time.

Florial has a 7-game hitting streak (9-for-27). He has four doubles and a homer during the streak.
SS Oswaldo Cabrera1-for-4, RBI, 2 RS, BB, K, SB (1)
The only thing he can do is perform down here and earn his way back.
C Austin Wells2-for-4, BB
Wells is hitting .286 (6-for-21) with two doubles and two walks since his promotion.
3B Andres Chaparro2-for-4, BB, K
Chaparro is 22-for-68 (.324) in July with 11 walks.
DH Franchy Cordero2-for-5, 2 RBI, K

5.04 ERA (69.2 IP, 73 H, 43 R, 39 ER, 8 HR, 39 BB, 80 K). Just like with Jhony Brito, his numbers down here don’t concern me.
RHP Zach Greene2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
RHP Matt Bowman1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
RHP Greg Weissert1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Somerset (55-36; 13-10 in the second half) (Defeated Bowie, 4-3, in ten innings)

SS Trey Sweeney1-for-3, RS, 2 BB, K
Sweeney now has a 10-game hitting streak and has 14 walks in July. His hit tool is legit.
RF Willie Calhoun1-for-5, K
LF Jasson Dominguez3-for-5, RBI, K, SB (27)
Dominguez is now at a season-high .223 (correct – he has not been above .223 all season) thanks to his first 3-hit game since May 16th. He is 26-for-84 (.310) in July.
3B Tyler Hardman0-for-4, RS, BB, 3 K
1B Ben Rice0-for-4, BB, K
10-for-24 with three walks and two strikeouts since his promotion.
2B Max Burt0-for-3, K
   2B Mickey Gasper1-for-2, RBI
Walk-off single in the 10th.
DH Anthony Seigler0-for-3, RS, BB
Seigler’s first game since June 25th.
C Josh Breaux: 3-for-4, 2B (2), HR (3), 2 RBI, RS
His 2-run HR with one out in the 9th tied the game.
CF Jeisson Rosario0-for-3, BB, K, SB (9)

RHP Yoendrys Gomez2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HR
1.72 ERA (31.1 IP, 18 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 2 HR, 20 BB, 36 K)
LHP Edgar Barclay: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

RHP Danny Watson: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
Since promotion: 1.31 ERA (20.2 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 HR, 8 BB, 24 K). The dominance is so overwhelming that you wonder if a trip to Scranton is in the cards. They can replace him with Jack Neely here.
RHP Jesus Liranzo: (W, 1-0)  2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
A much-needed dominant effort for Liranzo.

Hudson Valley (52-40; 13-13 in the second half) (Lost to Hickory, 6-5)

CF Spencer Jones0-for-5, K
SS Ben Cowles1-for-5, K
C Agustin Ramirez2-for-4, HR (7), RBI, 2 RS
Ramirez has homered in four straight games and has three straight multi-hit games (11 since his promotion). He is hitting .402/.449/.780 in 89 PA since his promotion and .293/.402/.515 in 321 PA overall. He has to be on the list of Yankees breakout prospects in 2023.
1B Rafael Flores: 2-for-3, HR (4), 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB
Flores has quietly hit .295/.375/.392 in 305 PA. He has three consecutive multi-hit games. I guess much of his prospect value will be dependent on whether he is capable behind the plate or if he is a 1B-only type.
RF Anthony Garcia1-for-3, HR (6), 2 RBI, RS, BB, 2 K
Garcia has homered in back-to-back games and has drawn at least one walk in five straight games.
DH Antonio Gomez0-for-4, 4 K

Tampa (45-48; 14-13 in the second half) (Defeated Dunedin, 6-5, on a walk-off single/error)

2B Jared Serna0-for-5, RBI
One is shocked when Serna puts up an 0-for-5, but at least he drove in a run (66th this season)
3B Jesus Rodriguez: 2-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 RS, SB (15)
He keeps flirting with .300 (including going over that mark during the game). He is on a 5-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games. The 15-for-17 SB rate is an added bonus.
C Omar Martinez1-for-5, SB (8)
CF Anthony Hall0-for-2, SF, RBI
Hall, hitting .269/.382/.448 in 241 PA, plays in his first game since July 4th.
   CF Daury Arias1-for-2, K
He hit the single in the 9th that scored Rodriguez on an error.
SS Brenny Escanio0-for-3, BB
RF Tayler Aguilar: 0-for-2, 2 K
RF Felix Negueis1-for-1, HR (2), RBI, RS, BB

.315/.483/.472 in 145 PA (.289/.463/.493 in 188 PA in the DSL in 2022). His BB/K ratio is exactly 1.00 (31/31)
CF Willy Montero0-for-4, K
.333/.386/.452 in 140 PA. Montero is 23-for-57 (.404) in July. Even with today’s 0-for, he has ten hits in his last five games.
SS Hans Montero1-for-3, RS, BB, 2 K
.265/.445/.444 in 155 PA. After a red-hot start, he is slumping in July (.160/.333/.200) but his overall line remains strong.

1B Kelvin Espino1-for-3

RHP Luis Serna2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
6.30 ERA (10 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 HR, 5 BB, 13 K)

CF Brando Mayea1-for-2
DH Josue Gonzalez1-for-1, 2B (11), RS
The double isn’t official (yet) but it would be his 11th in 21 games.

DSL Bombers (18-18) (Destroyed Rangers Blue, 17-6, in a rain-shortened (7 innings) affair)

CF Richard Meran0-for-0, HBP
He left the game after the HBP.
